Debating teaches our students that they have a voice, that their opinions matter and that it is their duty to be concerned with and speak out on important issues. The competitive motivation to do well while debating encourages students to think more clearly, research thoroughly and prepare their remarks carefully. Students also enjoy building friendships and networking with their peers from other schools.
Stella participates in the Schools Network Debating competition in Term 3. In addition, students attend events including the Festival of Speech and Ethical Explorations Day while our senior debaters help mentor future Stella debaters.
Stella offers a large variety of lunchtime and after school clubs and groups (both academic and interest based) to students. They can include:
Animee Club | Read for Your House |
Art Club | Science Club |
Anything English (English help and support) | Stellamatics (Maths help and support) |
Homework Help | Stewardship Club |
Making a Difference (MAD) Social Justice | Writing Group |
Origami Club | Youth Group |
Prayer Group |
To provide additional academic support, Stella offers the services of high performing past students after school in the Library. This complimentary service enables students to receive help with homework, assignments and upcoming assessment from former students who have achieved Band 6s in their subjects while in Year 12.
